Retired farmer and businessman Lynnis "Lynn" Eugene Von Ohlen died peacefully Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, in his home at age 89, after a prolonged illness.

Lynn was born March 24, 1928, in Mankato, Minn. He attended Judson Consolidated School and graduated from Nicollet Public School in 1946. After graduating, he continued to farm with his family.

On May 31, 1949, he married Ardella Rose Jones and began farming in Nicollet County, Minn.

In 1954, they moved to Clarkston and opened an A&W Drive-In restaurant. In the fall of 1958, they returned to Minnesota to resume farming in Blue Earth County near Lake Crystal, Minn.

In the late 1960s, he was one of the original employees in his brother-in-law's new company, Crysteel Manufacturing, and later joined the sales department of Crysteel Distributing. He went on to become an independent sales representative for multiple truck equipment manufacturers.

He and his wife returned to Clarkston in 1994, and he retired from truck equipment sales in 2001.

An avid outdoorsman, Lynn enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and outdoor photography throughout his life. He was an active member of his church and served on a number of projects and committees. Because of his concern to help those in need, he was an active volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and Second Harvest.

Lynn was preceded in death by his wife, Ardella, son Gregory Lynn and his parents, Henry and Alma.

Lynn is survived by his children, Debera R. (John) Molohon, of Clarkston, G. Elizabeth von Ohlen, of Mankato, Minn,, Melinda R. von Ohlen, of Clarkston, and Paul A. (Kelley) von Ohlen, of Mankato, Minn. He also was blessed to have six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
